School Rules

Any Contravention of these rules will be dealt with firmly. The Principal reserves the right to suspend and/or inform the appropriate authorities of any breach of these rules in particular with respect to numbers 5 & 6.

 

General:

No borrowing of personal property is allowed without the permission of a member of staff. Students are not permitted to use Liquid Paper.
Each pupils must ensure that the furniture assigned to him/her is kept in good condition. Damage to school property must be reported immediately. Students who deliberately damage school property will be required to pay the full cost of replacement.
NO PUPILS are permitted to eat in classrooms except in inclement weather. Eating is not permitted during or between lessons. Chewing gum is not permitted on the school premises.
Transistor radios, cassette and/or cd players, walkman tape decks, discmans, etc. may not be played in school and should not be brought to school. If in an exceptional circumstance a transistor radio has to be brought to school, it must be deposited in the School Office until the owner is ready to leave the premises.
Pupils may not carry, sell, use or have in their possession cigarettes, tobacco, alcohol, legal or illegal drugs on or off the school premises, either when wearing the school uniform or when representing the school in any capacity whatsoever.
Pupils may not carry, have in their possession or use knives or any other dangerous weapons.
It is a breach of this rule to wield any articles or instruments normally used in classes in a dangerous manner with or without malintent.
Late comers must report either to the member of staff or the Prefects on duty. Pupils arriving after Prayers must sign the VERY LATE BOOK in the School Office BEFORE ATTENDING CLASSES. Pupils will be issued with a ‘late slip' which must be presented to the subject teacher. Pupils without a written excuse must attend a detention on the same day at the beginning of the lunch hour.
No students may leave the school premises at any time during the school day either as pedestrians or as passengers in or drivers of any vehicle except with the express permission of the Principal or Deputy Principal. Letters of requesting permission to leave school must be presented to the Deputy Principal by 9:00 a.m.
Pupils awaiting private transport must wait in the compound at the front of the school. In all cases pupils should wait INSIDE and not OUTSIDE the school premises.
Students are expected to use the school bus provided for transportation to Oistins/Silver Sands , Speightstown and Bridgetown. It is important that students line up in an orderly queue to board the buses. It is a violation of this rule to hop on or off the bus whilst it is in motion.

No fighting will be condoned. Suspension for fighting or any other contravention of these rules is entirely at the discretion of the Principal or other designated authority.
Note well: Any breach of COMMON SENSE is a breach of the school rules.

 

Use Of Canteen:

Queues must be formed in the canteen whilst lunch is being bought. No pupils are allowed inside the serving or preparation area of the canteen. No more than two students are permitted at any of the canteen windows at one time. Students are required to comply with the instructions of teachers or Prefects on duty at the canteen.

 

Out Of Bounds Areas:

The Hall (except for Assembly, supervised meetings or tuition).
ALL verandahs surrounding the Administration Block at both levels (except the north verandah entrance to the library).
All staff areas and all service areas including the switchboard room, porter's lodge, the flat roof the Hall and the roofs of single storey buildings.
All form rooms for pupils below Form 5, before school, during Lunch and Break and after school, except supervised by a teacher or Prefect. Note well: The Administration Block is NOT a thoroughfare. Pupils should only enter the Administration Block when conducting business therein.
