It is indeed with great pleasure that I welcome you to our site on the world wide web. I am very proud to use this exciting medium to introduce you to an institution which produces well rounded individuals who can boast of outstanding academic achievement, coupled with a positive value-system which motivates them to utilise their skills for the benefit of their fellowmen and of their country. Queen’s College has achieved a reputation for academic excellence, and excellence in the area of extracurricular activities as well. Our performance in the Caribbean Examinations Council and the University of Cambridge Advanced level examinations is outstanding. We are the inter-school champions in chess, swimming and volleyball, and have achieved great success in track and field, basketball and tennis.

We are also the inter-school debating champions and have received many prizes and awards for our performance in a wide variety of competitions. For example, we were awarded the prize for the best school exhibit in the National Council for Science and Technology Exhibition. We were also awarded first prize for software development and the prize for the most interactive exhibit in that exhibition.

Our school choir and orchestra are nationally recognized, and we boast a wide variety of service clubs and other organizations. For over one hundred and fifteen years, Queen’s College has produced scholars who have achieved international distinction in the humanities, science and technology, education, the health professions, law, medicine, business, communications and the arts. Our alumni include Dame Elsie Payne, the first female in the country to obtain a Barbados Scholarship; the honourable Billie Miller, Deputy Prime Minister of the country; the honourable Mia Amor Mottley the Minister of Education and the Honourable Elizabeth Thompson, Minister of Health.

Queen’s College commenced operation as a single sex institution, but became fully co-educational in 1981. As we approach the new millennium, we have started to redefine the content and the delivery of our programmes to meet the changing needs of society and the expectations of this emerging generation of scholars. As you browse our web site, you will become conversant with our academic programmes and with the extracurricular activities in which we are involved. You will also discover why Queen’s College has achieved the enviable reputation for being one of the leading educational institutions in the Caribbean.
