Ellerslie Secondary School

OUR GOALS:

In support of our mission we are committed to

  • Providing students with an appropriate mix of curricular and co-curricular experiences that create in them a sense of self-worth and respect for people and property and ensure opportunities for the development of problem-solving skills for life.
  • Establishing a reputation of being a quality educational institution by implementing dynamic approaches in the delivery of programmes, which teach skills, develop talents and inculcate positive values and attitudes.
  • Ensuring a caring, disciplined, stimulating environment by providing challenges, incentives and rewards for all staff and students.
  • Facilitating personal and professional development for all staff while fostering good interpersonal relations through effective communication processes.
  • Involving Board, parents, and community at all stages of planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes while encouraging participation of the community in the development of the institution.
  • Fostering amicable and productive relationships with the Ministry of Education, the Board, parents and all members of the Community.

OUR STRATEGY

We intend to adopt a strategy focussing on individual student needs. The primary reasons are to avoid marginalisation of students, thereby giving each individual the opportunity to realise his/her full potential and to develop a culture which promotes personal excellence and individual growth.

We shall develop:

  • A strong internal focus on understanding and evaluating students needs and abilities;
  • The enhancement of programmes to make education more relevant and practical;
  • The use of a research and project-oriented approach to teaching, that encourages creativity and self-motivation in students;
  • A critical analysis of employee attitudes, training and commitment to the pursuit of personal excellence and continuous professional development and growth;
  • An ongoing attempt to keep abreast of changing technologies
  • Continuous improvement and upgrading of our physical plant and resources to ensure that the environment is conducive to sound educational practices;
  • A strong internal focus on efficient use of resources.
