Our History

We are one of the earliest institutions in the island of Barbados that catered to the broad masses of students of ordinary Barbadian.

Ellerslie Secondary School was established in the same year as Barbados became independent of Britain. The school got its name from its location, a former sugar plantation - evidence of which remains in the form of the mill wall to the south of the junior block.

Ellerslie Secondary School sits beneath the hills of the University of the West Indies and is to be found on the outskirts of the capital of Barbados along the highway joining the two major towns.
